Bombs being set off in airports, subways, café’s, and on street corners; Innocent people being killed, fighting among the nations, discord in government, and disunity among people. How do we discover HOPE in the midst of such chaos?
As I look back through History, not much has changed. There has always been an element of pandemonium; still people repeatedly navigate through these arduous circumstances.
Consider way back in the days when Jesus walked the earth, life indeed was chaotic. The Roman Empire was concerned about losing its power over the people, the Religious Leaders were vexing desperately to maintain control within their community, and Jesus was proclaiming a new kingdom.
Just for a moment, envision the uncertainty, which must have existed across the land during that time. Everything people relied on as ‘normal’ was being turned upside down. No longer was there any sense of stability. Unrest about what tomorrow would bring must have filled the air, as the people tried to discern exactly what was taking place around them.
Sound familiar? Much like our present day life?
In the midst of surrounding turmoil, I find myself reflecting on the glorious resurrection of Jesus. His triumphant victory over what appeared to be defeat is an everlasting reminder to be hopeful, despite ambiguous circumstances.
How about you? Are you able to uncover Hope in the midst of Chaos? Consider also your personal life…
Are you feeling defeated? Are the responsibilities and pressures of everyday life smothering the hope within you? Does it appear your dreams are dead and buried, sealed so tightly you could never reach them?
Be reminded…before there could be a resurrection there has to be a death.
What in your life needs to be revived? Is it your marriage, children who have gone astray, a career, health, finances, or perhaps your faith?
Whatever it is for you, do not despair! The final chapter of your life has not yet been written.
On the day Jesus was crucified, many, thought this was the finale! Injustice appeared victorious, hate seemed to triumph over love, and oppression rather than freedom ruled. Yet, what was intended to be the ultimate defeat was only a segment of the story! Soon afterwards … Jesus rose from the dead! Justice triumphed, love won over hate and freedom reigned.
Your memoir can have an epic conclusion.
The same power that raised Jesus from the grave can also roll away any boulders separating you from your resurgence! What seems lifeless at the present moment can be revived. Your future is bright; there are chapters of your life journey, which are yet to unfold. With God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)
Quiet the voices of chaos with these four principles:
- Submit whatever looks lifeless at the moment into the loving hands of God. Trust in His power, not your own ability, to bring restoration. (Prv. 3:5-6)
- Do not be ambushed by fear. “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. (Isaiah 41:10)
- Foresee, the work God has begun in your life, being accomplished. (Numbers 23:19)
- Walk by faith, not by sight. Look past the grave to the empty tomb. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Through faith in God, you can discover Hope in the midst of Chaos.
