Disappointment is a reality in life. Most people would admit they have experienced disappointment to some degree in their lifetime. If we are not careful, disappointment can derail us from our purpose.
It can be a challenge to stay on track when the debris of disappointment begins to surface in our life. It is crucial to consider disappointment in its proper perspective so we can guard our hearts against its destruction.
Disappointment can become your pathway to divine appointments.
Changing your outlook can change the outcome of your situation. If you keep your eyes on where you are going and not where you have been, God will lead you through the disappointment to your intended destination.
Film producers know the power of editing! They keep their eyes on the final production and they edit anything, which will hinder them from achieving their goal. I have watched my daughter, who is a film producer, edited pieces of video to ensure the story only displayed the necessary components. Hours and hours of footage were reduced to minutes. Editing is an arduous, unavoidable process.
You are the producer of your life story. You have the ability and power to evaluate and edit photos in order to produce your authentic life story.
The film producer must make the difficult decisions on what to carry forward and what to edit. Likewise, you also must make those tough choices. When the final destination is in view it is easier to see what photos fit the mission and which ones do not.
As you move forward creating your story, it is vital to edit anything which will hinder your progress.
Disappointment may look like shame, regret, hurt, abandonment, or failure. With your eyes fixed on the legacy you wish to create, these things would serve no purpose to carry forward…Edit them!
You will find it liberating to eradicate disappointment as you perfect your life story.
God instructs us to think only on those things, which are, pure, noble, trustworthy, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. (Phil 4:8). These are the snapshots you want to keep in your film.
Are you ready to go to the editing table? It is hard work and it is time-consuming, yet it is paramount. Let your faith be your magnifying glass as you edit the photos of disappointment. If those shots are dim under the light of your faith, EDIT them from your story.
In looking at biblical stories, I see clearly, where God edited disappointment from the final storyline of many great men and women. Abraham, who doubted God’s promise, is considered the Father of faith. Moses who was a murderer was chosen to be the deliverer of God’s people from Egypt. Joseph who was sold into slavery and imprisoned was made the leader of a nation.
There is no disappointment you are facing which your faith in God almighty can’t overcome. There is no disappointment that can hinder God’s plans for your life if you are willing to bring it to the editing table.
Your train is at the station waiting to carry you to your next divine appointment. Will you leave the baggage of disappointment behind? It will only derail you.
You are irreplaceable and your story matters!
