In this post I share the testimony of a young man named J.R. He lovingly speaks of his victory in overcoming his past failures, doubts, fears, and insecurities. You will be inspired as he shares words from his heart. I pray you will be touched by his openness and transparency.
I use to think the Lord didn’t want me because of my sinful past.
Now I know… no matter how dirty I’ve gotten my hands, I can lift them to Him and be made clean.
I use to think my life was falling apart.
Now I know… I just need to trust him and all else will fall into place.
I use to look at my watch often in church because I was bored.
Now… it breaks my heart to inform the preacher that it’s closing time.
I use to think I had to pray a certain way for God to take me seriously.
Now I know… prayer is just an honest conversation with Him, for he just wants to hear my voice.
I use to worry about what’s next for me.
Now… Jeremiah 29:11-14 helps me look forward to my future.
I use to think it was unmasculine to cry.
Now… I read the shortest verse in the bible ~ Jesus Wept (John 11:35)
I use to question God’s timing.
Now I know…His timing is always perfect and it’s His right to interrupt my life whenever He sees fit.
I use to think church was the only place to meet with brethren.
Now I know… I can meet amazing brothers and sisters in Christ anywhere…even in prison.
I use to think I should only pray for people who were new Christians or who did not know God at all.
Now I know… everyone needs prayer, even those who are much further along in their walk with God than I am.
I use to think putting my hands up to be ready to fight was a good way to solve problems.
Now I know… putting my hands together in prayer is much more effective.
I might be dishonorably discharged from the United States Navy.
Now I know…God is honored to have me as a soldier in HIS ARMY!
Some may have known J.R. as a Sailor, or a prisoner…that was then…Now J.R. knows… God calls him SON and this is a title he can be proud of!
J.R. came to the understand of what it means to embrace his true identity and authority in Jesus Christ. This truth has redirected the trajectory of his life. He is now uncovering his purpose in his everyday life.

Thank you. I cry every time I read it. Bumpy roads behind, maybe even potholes and wrong turns ahead but with our Lord guiding him along every mile he will stay strong and faithful in God’s Army.
Lucy Ann says
Dee,
I stand in agreement with God’s promises for his faithful children. May you be encouraged knowing God is able to do exceedingly more than we could dream or imagine!
