Excellence is the pathway to purpose. Everything God created and everything about who God is…reflects excellence! This includes you! That’s why ‘Good’ is not ‘Good Enough’! You have within you, the God-given ability to live life on a level above the norm. Your life should radiate with excellence in every area. In doing so, you will mirror God’s image to the world around you.
Uncovering purpose in your everyday life will require the use of a roadmap for guidance. God’s word is your roadmap; it provides you with direction as well as the light you will need to sustain you on this adventure (Psalms 119:105).
On the pathway to your purpose, excellence will lead you down many different trails. Today we are going to look at the trail called ‘Holiness’. This is where your journey begins.
Be holy for I am holy (1Peter 1:16). A life sanctified to God will keep your feet firmly planted on the course set before you.
Don’t settle for less than God’s best for you. Put the world on notice… you are set apart for God. This is an honorable place to be. Things of this world are temporary and will all pass away. Set your heart on things eternal (Colossians 3:2). Your purpose will be uncovered as you are living a holy life before God.
Does your daily life reflect Jesus? If Jesus, was here in the flesh, walking with you, how would you alter your daily routine? Your response to this question will guide you to the areas of your heart, which you have not yet allowed God to occupy. God’s holiness will inundate your heart only to the degree in which your heart is opened. God will not force himself into the rooms you keep closed.
What thought patterns or habits, are you clinging to that are causing you to live a mediocre life? Those things which you tolerate, so you can ‘fit in’ with the mainstream world, are the very things which keep you from living the abundant life God has prepared for you (John 10:10b). Often, it is easy to rationalize our behavior and think – oh, it’s not a big deal; everyone is thinking/doing it…after all, I’m a ‘good person’.
God hasn’t called you to be ‘good’ he has called you to be ‘holy’!
Ouch…I know!
When God awakened my heart to this truth, is when I realized… ‘Good’ is not ‘Good Enough’! My life was changed forever. I no longer had any excuse to live an average life; God was calling me to a higher path. He is calling you today as well! Will you listen to the still small voice that is speaking to you right now?
The enemy is crafty and deceptive; he will place things, people, and even entertainment, as obstacles to pull you off track from living a holy life. These stumbling blocks will distract you and cause you to live a life of compromise. Compromise always leads to mediocrity. The longer you explore the trail of mediocrity the further you will drift from the trail of holiness. Travel very long on this trail, and you will be miles away from your intended destination…your purpose!
“Search me God, and know my anxious thoughts, see if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalms 139:23-24). I challenge you to pray this prayer. God knows your heart better than you do. Will you allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart and reveal to you any areas which are unholy?
God has equipped you with all things and in all ways to be able to live a life of excellence. No more excuses, no more mediocre living. No more day in and day out without purpose.
Choose today to move from good…to holy.
There are people in your circle of influence who are looking for hope, will you be a light in their dark world? Excellence exhibited in holiness shines brightly!
Decide today – ‘Good’… is not ‘Good Enough’!

Being older (I’m 60+!), some things are no attraction at all. But the craftiness of the enemy uses other strategies – like things cropping up to eat into my times with the Lord and other seemingly little distractions. I need to continually more attentive to Him early each day – after all, my first calling is to love and worship Him – so my days are lifted from mediocrity. Thank you, Lucy Ann for the gentle reminder.

Linda,
Thanks for sharing with us! No matter what our age, it is important for us to remember we have an enemy who desires to keep us from living the abundant life
Jesus provided for us. I appreciate your sweet spirit. May God bless you as you spend time with Him. Praise God he has shown you areas to pay attention to.
Blessings,
Lucy Ann
